The pilot of a LAFD helicopter that crashed in 1998, fatally injuring four persons on board, has passed away, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department web site. Steven Robinson was credited with landing the crippled helicopter in Griffith Park while avoiding a nearby residential area, which could have led to even further casualties. An additional LAFD crew member, in addition to Robinson, was injured but survived the crash. A memorial was held in August.
